North Stars Put Up Three In Convincing Win, Take 2-0 Series Lead On Bombers

The Flin Flon Bombers have found themselves in a hole after dropping the first two games of the best-of-seven series.

The Bombers dropped the SJHL Final opener by a score of 5-2. Bombers forward Kylynn Olafson would open the scoring with his second of the post-season just 2:33 into the opening period. Flin Flon would take three minor penalties inside the first six minutes of the game and eventually the North Stars would equal the score with the man advantage. It was North Stars captain, Jake Southgates fifth of the post-season.

Colby Bear would give the North Stars the lead after being sprung on a breakaway late in the first period. Southgate would add another and Keiton Klein would help extend the North Stars lead to 4-1 heading into the third period. Bombers forward Ethan Mercer would cut the deficit to two for his team leading seventh post-season goal. Bear would add an empty net goal for his second of the game and put the game out of reach.

Last night was a much better effort for the Bombers, however it was still not good enough as the team would drop Game two 3-0. The North Stars added a goal in each period coming from Jackson Allan, Steven Kesserling and Kian Bell. North Stars goaltender Josh Kotai made 36 saves for his third shutout of the post-season.

The series now shifts to Flin Flon for a pair of games – Game 3 on Friday, April 21st and Game 4 on Saturday, April 22nd.
