Mike Reagan enters his 17th season behind the bench as the Bombers Head Coach & General Manager. Reagan took over the coaching duties after a dismal 2006-07 season, were the Bombers finished with an 18-38-0-2 record, their sixth straight season of fewer than 20 wins.  That first season Mike turned the team back into a playoff contender, finishing with a 33-21-4 record, a 32 point improvement.

Mike has compiled a 481-305-74 record over his sixteen seasons with the team and has guided the club to the SJHL Final four times, most recently in 2023. The Bombers also secured a spot in the Centennial Cup National Championships for the first time since 1993. The organization has also won four division titles under Reagan’s tenure with the club.

Additionally serving behind the bench on the international level with Team Canada West at the World Junior A Challenge, Reagan has won two gold medals. First as the Video Coach during the 2015-16 tournament and then as the Head Coach in 2017-18. Mike was also a part of Team Canada West’s staff at the 2016-17 tournament as an Assistant Coach.

The team is on the cusp of a championship. He has an excellent eye for recruitment, having signed or traded for scholarship caliber players.  Since Mike took over he has had over 60+ players go onto NCAA or Canadian College/University hockey and six attend NHL camps, the most recent being Caleb Moretz. A number of former players have also gone on to play at the professional ranks including Andrew Johnston who signed with the Philadelphia Flyers and Carsen Chubak who signed with the Adirondack Phantoms of the AHL.

Mike suited up for his hometown Bombers for four season and sits in the top five in most offensive categories including 4th in all time points and 1st in games played. After junior, Reagan accepted a full scholarship and played for four seasons compiling 81 points in 132 games with the Sacred Heart Pioneers.

Now back in Flin Flon after stints in pro hockey, his passion for the game, and especially the Bombers, is what helps him recruit players on his way to his ultimate goal, to build a championship.


Cole McCaig enters his 6th season as Bombers Assistant Coach, handling development of the program’s defencemen and penalty kill. McCaig joined the Bombers as a player in 2011 and spent two and a half seasons with the club before finishing his junior career with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines of the MJHL.

McCaig then went on to play NCAA Division III hockey at Marian University for four seasons. Cole graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree specializing in Sports and Recreation Management & Marketing.

Cole was promoted to Assistant General Manager in May of 2021 and is also the Bombers Marketing Director.


Chris Bortis has served on the Bombers staff since the 2008-2009 season. Bortis spent five seasons as the Bombers Manitoba Scout and then joined the coaching staff during the 2013-2014 season. The Flin Flon, Manitoba product played for the Norman Northstars U18 AAA program before playing junior hockey in Brooks, Alberta.

Chris is also a full-time electrician at Hudbay in Snow Lake.


Dan Ferguson has been working with the Bombers goalies since 2015. As the Goalie Coach Dan oversees all development needs of the teams goalies along with future prospective goalies within the position.An integral part of team success comes from consistency within the goaltending position. The Bombers have taken pride in having their goalies being prepared and confident in their game. Since 2015 the Bombers have reached the finals on three different occasions and made an appearance in the 2022 Centennial Cup Championships. Along with team success, the Bombers continue to see goalies progress to play at a collegiate level following their junior career.With his knowledge, care, and innovative approach to the position he has progressed high performance goaltenders to be successful at the NHL, Minor Pro, and Junior levels.  Along with coaching the Bombers, Dan works with the CSSHL RHA program out of Winnipeg, MB and conducts year- round training with goalies out of the RINK Training Centre.


Jason Savill has served as the Bombers Athletic Therapist & Equipment Manager since the 2018-19 season. Savill is responsible for managing the extensive equipment needs of every Bombers player on a daily basis in order to help the team succeed on the ice. Jason is also responsible for medical orders, assessing and rehabilitating injured players. Jason has been selected to represent the SJHL at the annual SJHL/MJHL Showcase twice.

In addition to his tenure with the Bombers, Savill was also the Regina Cougars Equipment Manager from 2016-2018. Jason was invited to work an NHL preseason game between the Edmonton Oilers and Carolina Hurricanes.


Jon Klassen enters his 21st season with the Flin Flon Bombers. Along with being the Head Scout, Jon is also the team’s Director of Player Personnel. During his time with the Bombers, Klassen has also held the title of Assistant General Manager. Jon is responsible for assisting with roster management and coordinating scouting and recruiting efforts across North America. Since the SJHL introduced the annual draft, Klassen has selected players such as Rylan Pearce, Kylynn Olafson, Matt Flodell and Cole Tanchuk. Jon has also helped recruit NCAA Division I players such as Reid McLeod, Andrew Johnston, Brett Boehm, Carsen Chubak, Cory Thomas and Devin Buffalo.

Klassen also has six years of WHL scouting experience, working with the Swift Current Broncos and Vancouver Giants. Jon contributed to the construction of the Giants roster which secured the Memorial Cup championship in 2007.

Austin was hired by the Bombers in July of 2023 and is responsible for the overall game-night experience and running the teams social media channels and website.

Austin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the team while working as a copywriter at CFAR, mainly writing articles and assisting with the website and social media channels. Austin also does voiceovers and assisted with color commentating last season with the Bombers. Most recently, Austin has been the voice of the PBCN Selects of the KJHL and assisted them with graphic designing. Mattes also did play by play for the MJHL’s OCN Blizzard during the playoffs last season.

Austin is a graduate of Herzing College and holds a degree in Broadcast and Media Communications.
