Bruins Win 3-0 To Tie Series Up With Bombers At 2-2

The Flin Flon Bombers played overtime hockey for the first time in the 2023 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) playoffs but were unable to secure the win. In game three of the SJHL Quarter-Final against the Estevan Bruins, the Bruins struck first short-handed. However, the Bombers would answer on the same power play with a goal from Alex Von Sprecken. The Bombers would extend the lead to two with second period goals coming from Bombers captain Lucas Fry and Liam Bridger. With ten minutes remaining in the third period it looked like the Bombers would put a strangle hold onto the series until the Bruins would tie the game with two goals just over two minutes apart to send the game into overtime. Bruins forward Owen Barrow would be the overtime hero with his second of the game and series.

In game four, the Bruins would get off to a hot start with a pair of goals in the opening period. Despite outshooting the Bruins 35-28, the Bombers would not solve Bruins goaltender Cam Hrdlicka. The Bruins would add an empty net goal late in the third period for the 3-0 win to tie the series at 2-2.

Game five of the SJHL Quarter-Final is scheduled for tomorrow night at the Whitney Forum. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM.
