A goal by Alexi Sylvestre at 10:58 of the second period held up as the winner on Sunday as the Flin Flon Bombers defeated the Estevan Bruins 4-1 to force a seventh and deciding game in the tight Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League playoff series.
Mitch Kohner gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead at 10:35 of the first period, but Jeremi Tremblay tied the game at 1:09 of the second. Cole Duperreault would extend the Bombers lead to two heading into the third period. Bombers captain Lucas Fry would put the game out of reach with an empty net marker with just 4:35 remaining.
The Bruins defeated the Bombers 2-1 in overtime on Friday and were looking to close out the series at home. Game 7 will be tomorrow night in Flin Flon.
If the Bombers win, they will be slated to faceoff against the Humboldt Broncos who finished in second place during the regular season with a 40-15-1-0 record. If the Bruins win, they will go up against the Battlefords North Stars who were ranked number one in the CJHL for majority of the season and finished the regular season in first place with a 48-5-2-1 record.
