Bombers Eliminate Bruins From SJHL Playoffs With Game 7 Win

With a chance for both teams to punch their ticket to the second round with a win, it was the Bombers who eventually came out on top with a 2-1 overtime win to take the series 4-3.

The game remained scoreless until Bruins captain Kade Runke scored his second of the playoffs at the 10:58 mark of the second period. The Bombers would get on the board just two minutes later when Ethan Mercer scored his third goal of the playoffs.

The game remained tied at the end of the regulation. Then finally at the 1:35 minute mark of overtime, Flin Flon’s Cole Duperreault scored the game winning goal, with the help from goaltender Harmon Laser-Hume to make it a 2-1 overtime final. It was Duperreault’s second of the playoffs after returning to the lineup in game six.

The Bombers outshot the Bruins 41-26 and were 2/4 on the power play. The Bruins were 0/2 with the man advantage.

Flin Flon now advances to the SJHL Semi-Final against the Humboldt Broncos. Game 1 between the Bombers and Broncos is Friday, March 31st at the Elgar Petersen Arena in Humboldt.
