Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Bombers kicked off the 2021-22 regular season this past weekend splitting the home and home series against the Melfort Mustangs.

Friday night in Melfort, a sluggish first period was the difference in the 5-2 loss. Mason Kaspick and Cole Duperreault (1st career SJHL goal) were the goal scorers and goaltender Cal Schell stopped 33 of 38 shots in net. Mustangs forward, Seth McCulloch had a pair of goals while Ben Tkachuk chipped in with 3 assists. Joel Favreau made 27 saves for the win.

Saturday night turned out much better for the Bombers and were able to even the score this weekend with a 5-3 win. Melfort tried to make a late push in the third period however Cal Schell was able to shut the door. Schell finished the night with 36 saves. The Bombers power play finished the night 3 for 7 and the top line of Jaeden Mercier, Jaxon Martens and Cole Duperreault combined for 6 points in the win.

The Bombers return to action Tuesday night against the Nipawin Hawks at the Whitney Forum.
