The Flin Flon Bombers season officially came to an end Monday night and so did the SJHL careers of eight Bombers. Every season the Bombers pay farewell to their overage players (20 year olds) as they move onto professional hockey or university. This season the Bombers pay farewell to 8 Bombers, Billy Klymchuk, Hayden Clayton, Zach Huber, Chase Haygarth, Easton Haygarth, Reid Robertson, Ryder Richmond and captain Matt Flodell.

The third overage player on the roster to salute is forward Zach Huber.

Zach signed with the Bombers in the summer of 2020 after completing 3 seasons in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen and Saskatoon Blades. Huber was drafted in the 4th round in the 2015 WHL Draft by Calgary.

Huber was named an alternate captain this season and his leadership on and off the ice would’ve been an integral success for the Bombers. In just 2 games this season, Zach produced 3 points (2g, 1a) along with 23 penalty minutes.

“When Hubes chose Flin Flon as the place he wanted to finish his junior career we were extremely excited. We felt that he would not only bring skill but also tremendous leadership and character. You could tell that he was going to bring all that and more. I’m very confident that Zach would’ve scored 30 plus goals and would’ve been among the league leaders in scoring.” – Mike Reagan, Bombers Head Coach & GM

Huber is currently pursuing an opportunity to continue his career at the college ranks.

The Flin Flon Bombers wish Zach Huber great success in the future whether its professional hockey or university. The Bombers are proud to have had Zach a part of our organization!

Stay tuned as we salute the rest of our overage players in the next couple of weeks.
