The Flin Flon Bombers season officially came to an end Monday night and so did the SJHL careers of eight Bombers. Every season the Bombers pay farewell to their overage players (20 year olds) as they move onto professional hockey or university. This season the Bombers pay farewell to 8 Bombers, Billy Klymchuk, Hayden Clayton, Zach Huber, Chase Haygarth, Easton Haygarth, Reid Robertson, Ryder Richmond and captain Matt Flodell.
The third and fourth overage players on the roster to salute are forwards Chase & Easton Haygarth.
The Haygarth’s were acquired in a blockbuster trade in the summer of 2019 from the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL in exchange for forward Vincent Nardone. The pair suited up for Whitecourt during the 2017/18 & 2018/19 seasons. In the 2019-20 season with the Bombers, Chase produced 54 points (12g, 42a) in 56 regular season games. While Easton produced 53 points in (19g, 34a) in 56 regular season games. They also combined for 8 points (5g, 3a) in 4 games during the 2020 playoffs against Humboldt. During the shortened 2020-21 regular season Chase put up 2 assists in 2 games while Easton was held pointless.
“When we acquired Chase and Easton we were looking to add some toughness to our lineup. They go to the gritty areas and aren’t afraid to mix it up with the opposition. They played huge roles for us on the powerplay and penalty kill. I loved the fire and passion they brought to the rink whether it was a game or practice. It’s hard to find players that hate to lose as much as Chase and Easton do.” – Mike Reagan, Bombers Head Coach & GM
The Haygarth’s have committed to Red Deer College (ACAC) where they will continue their playing careers with former Bomber Hayden Clayton.
The Flin Flon Bombers wish Chase and Easton great success in the future. The Bombers are proud to have had them a part of our organization!
Stay tuned as we salute the rest of our overage players in the next week.
