The Flin Flon Bombers season officially came to an end Monday night and so did the SJHL careers of eight Bombers. Every season the Bombers pay farewell to their overage players (20 year olds) as they move onto professional hockey or university. This season the Bombers pay farewell to 8 Bombers, Billy Klymchuk, Hayden Clayton, Zach Huber, Chase Haygarth, Easton Haygarth, Reid Robertson, Ryder Richmond and captain Matt Flodell.
The second overage player on the roster to salute is forward Hayden Clayton
Hayden was acquired from the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL at the 2020 January 10th trade deadline in a three team deal that saw forward Brandon Cianflone get moved to the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the CCHL. Clayton made his presence known early producing 3 points (2g, 1a) in his first 2 games as a Bomber. He would finish the 2019-20 campaign with 12 points (6g, 6a) in 19 regular season games as a Bomber along with 26 points (4g, 22a) in 38 games with Whitecourt. During the shortened 2020-21 SJHL season, Hayden was held pointless in 2 contests.
“Although Clay was only with us for a short period of time, he fit in like he had been with us for years. His size, skating ability along with a great skill set was exactly what we were looking for last year at the trade deadline. I believe he could’ve had a big year for us this season. ” – Mike Reagan, Bombers Head Coach & GM
Clayton has committed to Red Deer College (ACAC)
The Flin Flon Bombers wish Hayden Clayton great success in the future. The Bombers are proud to have had Hayden a part of our organization!
Stay tuned as we salute the rest of our overage players in the next couple of weeks.
