The Flin Flon Bombers are pleased to announce that 2004-born defenceman Cole Tanchuk has signed with the team
“Cole does so many things well. He’s great in his own zone and has an extremely high hockey IQ. I’m always impressed with his consistent work ethic and dedication to get better every time he is on the ice. After just a few games into this season you could tell he was going to be ready to play junior at 17 next season.” – Bombers Head Scout, Jon Klassen
Tanchuk, 16, was originally drafted by the Bombers in 2nd round (19th overall) in the 2019 SJHL Draft. The product of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan has appeared in 3 games with the Tisdale Trojans U18 AAA where he has tallied 2 assists.
The 6’1, 175-pound defenceman appeared in 33 games in the 2019-2020 season with Tisdale and collected 9 points (3g-6a). Former Bombers captain Dennis Kubat has been Cole’s head coach the last 2 seasons.
“Cole came to our program at 15 and continues to get better each day. He lives and breathes hockey. He put in the time at the rink and in the gym to accomplish his goals. I’m excited to see him continue his development in Flin Flon.” – Tisdale Trojans Head Coach, Dennis Kubat
Tanchuk was also selected in the 2019 WHL Draft by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the 5th round (92nd overall). Cole is the first defenceman to commit to the Bombers for the 2021-2022 season.
“I’m very excited to become a Bomber and honoured to be a part of an organization with their storied history and reputation for developing players and moving them on to the next level. I’m looking forward to the next step in my journey and I’m excited for the upcoming season.” – Cole Tanchuk
The Bombers would like to welcome Cole and his family to the Flin Flon Bombers organization!
