Kieper Wins 2024-2025 SJHL MVP and Goaltender of the Year Awards

Flin Flon Bombers Goaltender Matthew Kieper has been named the winner of the 2024-2025 SJHL MVP and Goaltender of the Year Awards.

The Bombers star is coming off a sensational season that saw him finish the campaign 1st in goals-against-average with a 1.80 and 1st in save percentage with a .935. The Winnipeg, Manitoba product posted a record 23-2-1-1 and his 23 wins ranked 3rd among all SJHL goaltenders, despite playing 7 to 10 less games than the two goaltenders ahead of him in the category.

Kieper represented the SJHL at the SJHL/MJHL Showcase in his hometown in January and was the SaskTel Goaltender of the Month twice this campaign. The last time one player won both the MVP and Goaltender of the Year was in 2021-22 when Humboldt’s Rayce Ramsay earned the honour.

This is the second year in a row a Bombers goaltender has won the SJHL Goaltender of the Year Award. Former Bombers Goaltender Harmon Laser-Hume was last years winner.

Kieper and the Bombers return to action this weekend when the Humboldt Broncos come to town to open up the SJHL Quarter-Final series.
