Flin Flon beats Humboldt 4-2 to take 2-0 series lead in SJHL Quarter-Final

The Flin Flon Bombers are just two wins away from advancing to the SJHL Semi-Final.

After a 5-0 win in Game 1 on Friday night over Humboldt, the Bombers carried their strong play into Game 2 on Saturday night picking up a 4-2 win to give them a 2-0 series lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Bombers leading scorer in the regular season Ryder Ringor notched a goal and three assists to lead the Bombers in Friday night’s victory. Rookie forward Rhett Ewen made an immediate impact in his SJHL playoff debut with two goals and Leighton Carruthers returned to action and did not look out of place one bit picking up two goals as well. Goaltender Matthew Kieper made 24 saves for his first career SJHL playoff shutout.

The following night the Broncos would get off to a better start by picking up the games opening goal on the stick of Kye Benoche. In the second period the Bombers finally got some momentum by scoring the next three goals. Carruthers, Ringor and Keefe Gruener were the goal scorers. Kye Benoche would cut the deficit to just one heading into the final frame. Despite having many opportunities to put the game away on the power play in the third period the score would remain the same until Ringor sealed the deal with an empty net goal. Kieper was solid again in Game 2 as he made 34 saves.

The series now shifts to Humboldt for Game 3 on Tuesday night.
