Flin Flon Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Flin Flon Bombers came home with a weekend split after defeating Melville 5-2 on Friday night and then falling to the Yorkton Terriers 5-2 last night.

Rookie goaltender Kenneth Marquart would get the start in net against the Millionaires after not playing for nearly a month. Kenneth would prove that their is no such thing as rust. The Regina, Saskatchewan product made 46 saves for his 4th win of the season while also chipping in with an assist on Cole Duperreault’s empty net goal. Rookie forward Dawson Karol had a pair of goals, which included his 1st career SJHL goal just 3:12 into the opening frame. Alexi Sylvestre and Jeremi Tremblay were the other Bomber goal scorers.

After falling to the Terriers 3-1 at the Whitney Forum in November, the Bombers looked to get revenge. The Terriers were coming off of a disappointing 7-0 loss the night before and came out firing. Greg Nelson and Colton Koran would give the Terriers a 2-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. Jacob Vockler’s power play marker just 45 seconds into the period would get the Bombers on the board. Despite outshooting the Terriers 19-10 in the period, Yorkton would head into the intermission with a 4-1 lead. The Terriers would hold on for the 5-2 win.

The Bombers now sit in 3rd place overall and 2nd in the Sherwood Division, trailing the La Ronge Ice Wolves by 2 points with 1 game in hand.

Bombers forward Jeremi Tremblay has left for Cornwall, Ontario to attend Team Canada West tryouts. The Tournament begins on December 11th.
