Flin Flon Bombers Week Recap, October 30 – November 5, Powered By Canadian Tire

This is your Flin Flon Bomber Week Recap powered by Canadian Tire.

This past week, the Flin Flon Bombers played only one game on Thursday night against Sherwood Division rival, the Melfort Mustangs. This was the first time matching up against the Mustangs since losing the Home Opener. The Bombers came out ready to play, scoring the first two goals, coming from Justin Lies and Kylynn Olafson. It was turning out to be a great first period for the Bombers but in the final minute, Melfort was able to find the back of the net to make it 2-1 going into the second. The Bombers came out with the first goal in the second period, coming from Adam McNutt, but the Mustangs answered quickly with one of their own to make it 3-2. Alexi Sylvestre was the next person to add to the goal column making it 4-2 with just less than 3 minutes left in the second. But the Mustangs kept the pressure on, as they answered back again to end off the second period, making it a 4-3 game.  Melfort was able to even the score at the 6:19 mark in the third period with a goal from Ryan Duguay, his second of the game.  All tied up at 4-4, the Bombers had tons of good scoring opportunities but had a hard time finding the back of the net, until Carter Anderson was able to get the game winner with 7 minutes left in the game to seal the deal for a final score of 5-4.

The Bombers out shot the Mustangs 44 to 26. Harmon Laser-Hume stopped 22 of 26 shots. The Bombers power play was very successful, scoring twice on five chances. They were one of six on the penalty kill.

The Bombers got the max two points this week. They currently sit at 1st in the Sherwood Division and SJHL with 29 points and a 14-1-1-0 record. The Humboldt Broncos follow close behind with 27 points and one game in hand. The Bombers have also been ranked as the #1 team in Junior A again this week by the CJHL, with Humboldt right behind them at #2.
