This past week, the Bombers played two games, both against defending SJHL Champions, the Battlefords North Stars. The first game on Friday was at the Access Communications Centre and the scoring opened up with a goal from Battlesfords in the first 10 minutes. The Bombers answered back on the power play, with a goal from Justin Lies to tie it up and make it 1-1. Then as the period was coming to an end, the North Stars were able to find the back of the net again to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission. The Bombers came out to a strong start in the second period with a quick goal from Alexi Sylvestre to tie it up 2-2. Both teams kept fighting back and forth and there was no goals for about 12 minutes in the second until Battlefords opened up the game again with a goal to take the lead 3-2.  Shortly after, the Bombers were able to find one of their own to tie it up 3-3 going into the intermission, coming from Anthony Bax. The third period started and the Bombers came out hot, with the first goal coming from Anthony Piccininno to take the lead 4-3. The Bombers held on to the lead for a majority of the third, but the North Stars were eventually able to tie it up 4-4 and the game called for overtime. It was Adam McNutt who was the hero and scored the game winning goal with a beautiful pass coming from Carter Anderson for the Bombers to take the win 5-4.

The Bombers outshot the North Stars 51 to 35. Harmon Laser-Hume stopped 31/35 shots. The Bombers went 1/4 on the power play and stopped Battlefords all 3 times on the penalty kill.

The following the night, the Bombers took to the ice again against the North Stars, this time at the Battleford Arena. The Bombers came out strong in the first period, scoring the period’s lone goal, coming from Carter Anderson to put them up 1-0. For the second period, the North Stars started to fight back and found a goal of their own to make it 1-1. There were no other goals scored in the second, so it was all tied up going into the third. The Bombers got off to a quick start in the final period with a quick goal from Carter Anderson to put them up 2-1. Battlefords answered back quickly though with a goal of their own to make it 2-2 half way through the third. In the final 6 minutes, the Bombers were able to put home two more goals coming from Justin Lies and Koen Senft to make it 4-2. The North Stars had some good opportunities and chances but nothing fell and the Bombers took the game 4-2.

Battlefords outshot the Bombers 38 to 33. Harmon Laser-Hume stopped 36/38 shots. The Bombers went 0/3 on the power play and stopped Battlefords all 5 times on the penalty kill.

The Bombers took all 4 possible points this week. They now sit with a 34-2-2-0 record. The Bombers  are still the #1 Ranked team in the CJHL for 12 straight weeks  now and #1 in the SJHL with 70 points.
