Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Flin Flon Bombers were able to go 2-2 on their southern road swing this past week.

On Tuesday night, the Bombers defeated Melville 4-2. Goaltender Cal Schell continued his stellar play, making 34 saves and forward Zak Smith led the way offensively with a goal and 3 assists. Former Bombers goaltender Jared Thompson had himself another solid showing against his former club, making 39 saves in the loss.

The next night, the Bombers travelled to Estevan to take on the 2022 Centennial Cup host. The Bombers were unable to hold onto a 1-0 lead going into the 3rd period and lost this one 3-1. Jaxon Martens was the lone goal scorer for the Bombers. Bruins goaltender Boston Bilous was busy in net having to stop 41 shots.

The Bombers took on Notre Dame, Friday night. Despite having a 2-0 lead in the 1st period, Notre Dame was able to score 4 unanswered goals and come away with a 4-2 victory. Mason Kaspick and Zak Smith were the Bomber goal scorers and Max Hildebrand made 26 saves.

Not wanting to go home 1-3 on the trip, the Bombers played desperate hockey and were able to defeat the Weyburn Redwings 6-4. Jaxon Martens led the way offensively with 4 points. Martens now sits 4th in SJHL League scoring.

Flin Flon currently sits 1st overall in the SJHL with 22 points.
