Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Bombers earned a weekend split with La Ronge this past weekend.

Despite leading 2-0 in Friday nights game, the Ice Wolves stormed back with 7 unanswered goals to win the contest 7-2. Bombers defenceman Xavier Lapointe had both goals in the loss. This would be La Ronge’s 5th straight win. Despite beginning the season near the bottom of the standings, the Ice Wolves now sit tied for 7th with the Notre Dame Hounds in the standings. Since trading away former captain Nolan Doell, La Ronge has posted a 6-3 record.

The next night the Bombers trailed 1-0 heading into the 3rd period and this time it was the Bombers that would storm back. Flin Flon scored 5 goals in the final frame to take this one 5-2. Rookie goaltender Max Hildebrand was given the start in net and played sensational making 33 saves for his 5th win of the season. Matt Egan, Matt Raymond, Jeremi Tremblay, Jacob Vockler and Zak Smith all had multipoint games in the win. Rookie forward Matt Egan now has 6 points (2g, 4a) in his last 5 games.

The Bombers find themselves in 2nd place in the Sherwood Division, 2 points behind the surging Melfort Mustangs. Flin Flon currently has 2 games in hand.

Xavier Lapointe continues to lead all SJHL defencemen in scoring with 28 points (12g, 16a) in 32 games. After a pair of assists Friday night, defenceman Reece Richmond now sits in 5th among all SJHL defencemen with 20 points (2g 18a).
