The Bombers Make Big Moves at the Trade Deadline

Here is all the transactions the Bombers made today prior to the trade deadline:

The Flin Flon Bombers have acquired ’03 Defenceman, Anthony Bax, from the Dauphin Kings of the MJHL in exchange for ’04 Forward, Ashton Paul and future considerations.

The Pas, Manitoba product joined the Bombers at the beginning of this season and played in 28 games, gaining 4 goals and 15 assists for 19 points. Prior to this season, Paul played two seasons for his hometown, MJHL Blizzard. Last season, he put up impressive numbers, basically averaging a point a game with 26 goals and 30 assists for 56 points in 57 regular season games. Standing at 6’2, Paul is a big and fast forward that brought depth scoring to the Bombers this season.

The Bombers thank Ashton for his commitment and passion while with the Bombers and wish him the best of luck in the rest of his hockey career.

Bax is a Parkhill, Ontario product who started his junior career with the Oakville Blades of the OJHL in 2019/20, where he played in 5 games. He then spent time in the USPHL Premier Division with the Elmira Junior Enforcers during the 2020/21 season, playing in 12 games, he notched 4 goals and 6 assists. In the 2021/22 season, Bax was back in the OJHL with the Collingswood Blues, where he played in 26 games before going to the Connecticut Jr. Rangers of USPHL NCDC, where he played in 11 games. Bax joined the Dauphin Kings for the 2022/23 season, playing in 49 games, tallying 5 goals and 19 assists for 24 points. This season with the Kings, Bax is 2nd in scoring for defenceman in the MJHL with 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points in 30 games.

The Bombers welcome Anthony and his family to the organization and are looking forward to seeing him suit up this season.

 

The Flin Flon Bombers have traded ’03 Forward, Brock Mueller, to the Kindersley Klippers in exchange for a 2024 3rd round draft pick and a Player Development Fee.

Before coming to the Bombers, the Calgary, Alberta product played for the Calgary Canucks of the AJHL. While playing for the Canucks, Mueller played in 28 games, tallying 4 goals and 3 assists for 7 total points. Mueller came to the Bombers mid way through last season and played in 27 regular season games, notching 5 goals and 4 assists along with 1 goal and 1 assists during the playoffs. This season, Mueller has gotten 5 goals and 11 assists in 28 games for the Bombers.

The Flin Flon Bombers are excited to announce the acquisition of ’04 Forward, Keefe Gruener, from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL in exchange for future considerations.

Before starting his junior career, Gruener played for the Winnipeg Wild U18 AAA of the MU18HL in 2021/22. While playing for the Wild he put up an impressive 27 goals and 28 assists for 55 points in 38 games. The Winnipeg, Manitoba product started his junior career with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons (AJHL) last season, playing in 58 games, he tallied 5 goals and 15 assists for 20 points. This season, in 40 games, Gruener has put up 12 goals and 13 assists, and was 2nd in team scoring with 25 points. Gruener is a strong and solid forward with great offensive abilities and good vision that will add more depth to the Bombers already strong front end.

The Bombers welcome Keefe and his family to Flon Flon and are excited to have him apart of the team.

 

The Flin Flon Bombers have traded ’04  Defenceman, Cheechoo Lathlin, to The Blizzard of the MJHL in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

The Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba product joined the Bombers in the summer of 2022, but only played in 1 game last season due to injury. Lathlin suited up in 24 games this season for the Bombers, putting up 1 goal and 2 assists for 3 points. Before joining the Bombers, Lathlin played for Norman Northstars U18 AAA program In 2021/22, where he put up 49 points (15g, 34 a) in just 36 games and was named to the Manitoba AAA U18 Hockey League’s first all-star team. Lathlin also appeared in 6 games during the 2021-22 season with MJHL’s Blizzard and also suited up with the KJHL’s OCN Storm, where he had 7 points (5g, 2a) in just 2 games.

The Bombers wish Cheechoo the best of luck in this next part of his hockey career and thank him for all his hard work and dedication while with the Bombers.

 

The Bombers are happy to announce the signing of former Sherwood Park Crusader (AJHL), ’05 Defenceman, Conor Ryan.

Ryan played last season for Shawnigan Lake U18 Prep of the CSSHL, where he was 5th in league scoring for defenceman with 28 points (9 goals, 19 assists). The St.John’s, Newfoundland product started this season with the Sherwood Park Crusaders of the AJHL, where he played in 16 games, tallying 4 assists. Ryan is a strong and fast defenceman with a great hockey IQ that will bring depth to the Bombers back end.

The Bombers are happy to have Conor apart of the organization and welcome him and his family to Flin Flon.

 

The Flin Flon Bombers are happy to announce the acquisition of ’03 Forward, Tyson Smith, from the Selkirk Steelers of the MJHL in exchange for a Player Development Fee.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba product started of this season with the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL. This season with the Bobcats, Smith suited up in 24 games, producing 3 goals and 11 assists for 14 points. The past 3 seasons before going to the NAHL, Smith played with the Steelers. Last season, Smith played in 57 games for Selkirk where he tallied an impressive 13 goals and 57 assists for 70 points.  Smith is an experienced forward with great offensive abilities and vision that will add even more to the Bombers front end.

The Bombers are thrilled to have Tyson join the organization and cant wait to see him on the ice this season.
