The Flin Flon Bombers get set for a heavyweight showdown against the league leading Melfort Mustangs this weekend beginning on Friday night in Melfort. The Mustangs currently have a nine point cushion on the Bombers for 1st place and are coming off a weekend split with the Humboldt Broncos. The Bombers are also coming off a weekend split, defeating the Yorkton Terriers 4-1 and then dropping a 3-1 decision to the Melville Millionaires.

Melfort currently averages the 2nd most goals scored per game with 3.85 and they average the least amount of goals against per game with 2.19. The Bombers sit just behind them in both categories with a respectable 3.80 goals scored per game and 2.27 goals against.

Both teams have two players each that sit in the top twenty of the SJHL scoring race. Mustangs forward Reilley Kotai is 3rd in SJHL scoring with 61 points in 45 games. Bomber forwards Ryder Ringor and Keefe Gruener have 57 and 53 points each. Mustangs forward Logan Belton sits just behind them with 51 points.

Both goaltenders on each team sit in the top five in goals-against-average among all SJHL goaltenders. Bombers goaltender Matthew Kieper has a league best 1.62 meanwhile Mustangs goaltenders Madden Mulawka and Kristian Coombs have a 2.08 and 2.15. Kenneth Marquart ranks 5th with a 2.63.

The season series between the Bombers and Mustangs is tied at 3-3 with the home team winning every contest.
