Bombers Week Recap: Powered By Canadian Tire

The Flin Flon Bombers hosted the Estevan Bruins for a pair of games at the Whitney Forum this past weekend with the Bombers winning Friday night 3-2 in overtime and then losing Saturday night 3-2.

On Friday night the Bombers were able to overcome a 2-0 deficit and win the game 3-2 in overtime. Bruins forwards Mark Rumsey and Eric Houk opened the scoring for the Bruins and goaltender Boston Bilous made 24 saves in the loss. Nathan Gagne and Mason Kaspick scored in regulation with Cole Duperreault scoring the overtime winner. Goaltender Cal Schell made 36 saves for his 11th win of the season.

Last night’s game the Bombers had 1-0 and 2-1 leads during the game but the Bruins were able to capitalize with 2 goals in the 3rd period for the win. Mason Kaspick scored his 2nd goal of the weekend and Zak Smith was the other Bomber goal scorer. Bruins forward Olivier Pouliot scored the game winning goal with less than 5 minutes to go in the 3rd period. Bilous was much busier in the net having to make 32 saves while Cal Schell faced 20 shots.

The Bruins now have a 4 point lead on the Bombers in the overall SJHL standings.

The Bombers made a roster move this past week sending forward Nathan Flodell (03) to the Portage Terriers in exchange for a PDF. Flodell suited up in 4 games with the Bombers and had 1 goal. Our roster now sits at 16 forwards, 8 defencemen and 2 goaltenders. Jaeden Mericer, Noah Kuntz and Cory King are all out with injuries. Mercier is expected to return to Flin Flon sometime later next week.
