Bombers Season Ends In Estevan

A special season for the Flin Flon Bombers came to an end Friday night in Estevan.

The Bombers dropped a 3-2 decision in double overtime to the OJHL’s Pickering Panthers in the Centennial Cup Quarter-Final. Jacob Vockler had both goals for the Bombers while goaltender Cal Schell made 34 saves in the loss.

Flin Flon finished the round robin with a 1-2-1-0 record to secure a spot in the playoff round. The Bombers opened the tournament with a 6-1 win over the NOJHL’s Soo Thunderbirds before beating the CCHL’s Ottawa Jr. Senators 3-2 in overtime. The team had a setback in the third game with a 4-1 loss to the MHL’s Summerside Western Capitals. Flin Flon would then win the battle of Manitoba with a 2-1 shootout win over the MJHL’s Dauphin Kings.

Defenceman Xavier Lapointe was named the tournament’s top defenceman. Lapointe had 3 goals and 2 assists in 5 games.
