The Flin Flon Bombers season officially came to an end Monday night and so did the SJHL careers of eight Bombers. Every season the Bombers pay farewell to their overage players (20 year olds) as they move onto professional hockey or university. This season the Bombers pay farewell to 8 Bombers, Billy Klymchuk, Hayden Clayton, Zach Huber, Chase Haygarth, Easton Haygarth, Reid Robertson, Ryder Richmond and captain Matt Flodell.
The sixth overage player on the roster to salute is forward Reid Robertson.
Robertson signed with the Bombers in the summer of 2018 after spending 2 seasons with the Winnipeg Thrashers program where he was named team captain during the 2017-18 season. In 90 career regular season games with the Thrashers, Reid produced 90 points (39g, 51a).
During his rookie season with the Bombers, Robertson produced 5 points (1g, 4a) in 33 regular season games and was named the Bombers most improved player. Reid took a massive step forward in his second campaign putting up 32 points (10g, 22a) while playing as the team’s 4th line center in 52 regular season games. In the shortened 2020-21 season, Robertson was held pointless. Reid was also nominated for the SJHL’s Community Ambassador award the last 2 seasons.
“Reid came to us as an offensive player out of Midget AAA and was able to become one of the best 200 foot players on our team. We moved him to center after playing right wing because of how much pride he took in the defensive zone. He was a very well-liked person in our room and he was willing to do anything to help the team win.” – Mike Reagan, Bombers Head Coach & GM
Robertson is currently pursuing an opportunity to continue his career at the college ranks.
The Flin Flon Bombers wish Reid Robertson great success in the future whether its professional hockey or university. The Bombers are proud to have had Reid a part of our organization!
Stay tuned as we salute the rest of our overage players in the next couple of days.
