This past week, the Bombers only played one game against the Nipawin Hawks on Friday night at the Whitney Forum. It was a packed house with nearly 1500 people as it was Hockey Night in the North and the game was free to the public. The Bombers came hot out the gate with 4 goals in the first 9 minutes, coming from Carter Anderson (2) and Riley Niven (2). The Hawks couldn’t find the back of the net once In the first period, so the game went to intermission with the Bombers leading 4-0. The second period came and the Bombers offence slowed down a little bit and they weren’t able to score any goals throughout the 20 minutes. Nipawin didn’t get any goals in the second period as well. The game went into the third 4-0 for the Bombers and they continued with the offensive barrage. Tyson Smith and Matt Egan both got goals early on in the period to make it 6-0. Then another two came later on in the period, from Anthony Piccininno and another one from Matt Egan. As the game was winding down, both teams were piling on the penalty minutes in the blowout. By the end of the game, there was nearly 200 penalty minutes but regardless, the Bombers won 8-0 and Kenny Marquart got the shutout.

The Bombers outshot the Hawks 38 to 29. Kenny Marquart stopped all 29 shots. The Bombers went 2/8 on the powerplay and stopped Nipawin all 7 times on the penalty kill.

The Bombers gained 2 points this week to increase to 71 points on the season and officially solidified themselves a spot in the playoffs. The Bombers current record is now at 35-2-2-0 and they are still the #1 ranked in the CJHL for 13 straight weeks.
