After beating the Kindersley Klippers 4-0 in Round 1, the Flin Flon Bombers are now taking on the defending SJHL Champions, Battlefords North Stars in the semi-finals.
The Bombers and North Stars played each other four times this season with the Bombers going 3-1 in those games. Last season, the Bomber fell to the North Stars 4-0 in the SJHL Finals and over the past 5 years, the Bombers have struggles against Battlefords going 7-7-0-0 in games against them. That being said, the Bombers squad this season has been the best in the country and league for a majority of the season and they will be looking to continue that campaign as well with getting revenge for last year’s final. On top of that, the Bombers have a high powered offense with strong back end and outstanding goal tending, that can be hard to stop even on a bad night. Similar to the Bombers, Battlefords has been one of the best teams in the league for a good part of the season. They have lots of experience, great scoring ability, strong defense and they definitely aren’t afraid to get physical. Both teams for this series will have to play their absolute best because mistakes from either team will get capitalized on from the other side. Regardless, the Flin Flon vs. Battlefords rivalry continues, and if it’s anything like the games we saw in February, it will be an exciting, action packed and physical series that you don’t want to miss.
