The SJHL Championship will be decided on Friday night in Estevan.
Facing elimination, goaltender Cal Schell and forward Jaeden Mercier delivered for the Flin Flon Bombers once again. Schell made 33 saves, Mercier had a goal and two assists, and the Bombers defeated the Estevan Bruins 6-1 on Tuesday night to even the bruising, physical final at three games apiece.
Drew Kuzma would break a scoreless tie just 37 seconds into the second period while Xavier Lapointe and Cole Duperreault would help build the Bombers lead to 3-0 heading into the third period. Bruins forward Mark Rumsey would get the Bruins on the board 1:27 into the third period before the Bombers would storm back with three unanswered goals by Jaeden Mercier, Jaxon Martens and Zak Smith.
The last time the Bombers won an SJHL Championship was back in 1993. Meanwhile, the Bruins will be looking for their first SJHL Championship since 1999.
