The Flin Flon Bombers are one win away from heading to the SJHL Semi-Final after defeating Battlefords 3-1 in North Battleford last night.
Forward Gabriel Shipper opened the scoring for the Bombers at the 13:37 mark of the opening period. Shipper would add his second of the game late in the second period as the Bombers would take a 2-0 lead heading into the third period. Brett Wieschorster would score his third goal in three games to extend the Bombers lead to three. Shortly after the media timeout, the North Stars would get on the board with a goal from Keiton Klein but it wasn’t enough as the Bombers would hold on for the 3-1 win. Bombers goaltender Cal Schell made 29 saves for his third straight win in the playoffs. Meanwhile, North Stars goaltender Michael Harroch was busy again making 42 saves in the loss.
The Bombers now lead the best of seven series 3-2 with a chance to end the series tomorrow night in Flin Flon. Puck drop is at 7:30 PM.
