Everything you need to know heading into game one tomorrow night, as the Flin Flon Bombers take on the Battlefords North Stars in Round One of the SJHL Playoff, in pursuit of the Canalta Cup.
After taking down the Weyburn Redwings in 2 games, the Flin Flon Bombers hit the road today for a first round matchup with the Battlefords North Stars. Game one goes Friday and game two Saturday, before returning home to the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon for games three and four, which will go Tuesday and Wednesday. Puck drop in Battlefords will be 8:30pm Local time, 7:30 SK time. As usual, 7:30pm puck drop Flin Flon time for all home games.
Flin Flon is 4-1 on Battlefords this season including a 6-5 OT thriller in the last regular season meeting between the two clubs. The first meeting saw Flin Flon lose in Battlefords 3-1, but returned the next night for revenge with a 5-4 win.
The next meeting saw Flin Flon win 5-2 on home ice, and as mentioned above, the last meeting was a 6-5 OT win for the Bombers.
There will be some difficult line up decisions for Head Coach and GM of the Flin Flon Bombers Mike Reagan, as 3 regulars will be available for round one against Battlefords.
Chystopher Collin, Calvon Boots, and Ethan Daniels are all ready to return to the line-up. With the outstanding play of some of the young players in the Weyburn series, Reagan’s decisions become much more difficult, as the team played so well without these veteran players.
“Very difficult, it’s nice to have Daniels and Collins back in the lineup, but the guys that will be out for game 1 deserve to play. They were terrific in the Weyburn series.” Said Mike Reagan.
“The only thing I told them is that I wish that I could have them in the lineup, but unfortunately we can only dress so many guys and to be ready, because they will be getting into the lineup throughout the series.”
“I think for us to be successful, we have to buy into the fact that the mistakes that we made in the first series will cost us deeply in this series. We need to limit our mistakes, and capitalize on theirs.” He added;
“We are healthy, we are excited, and we are confident. I think that makes us a dangerous team heading into Battlefords in round one.”
