Bombers Beat Hawks

By Flin Flon Bombers , 03/20/18, 11:00PM CDT

Bombers Down Hawks 3-2 at Home to Get Back In Series

The Flin Flon Bombers defeated the Nipawin Hawks by a score of 3-2 on home ice tonight.

Flin Flon Bombers Head Coach and GM had this to say:

"Just a gutsy effort tonight, when I didn't think we had everyone going, I thought some guys were a little sluggish, hopefully they will get there legs for tomorrow

He went on to add " It was great to see guys sacrificing  tonight"

After a scoreless first period, Brandson Hein (Winnipeg, MB), got the Bombers on the board early into the 2nd period with a perfect shot over the shoulder of Hawks goalie Declan Hobbs. Hein was fed a perfect pass into the slot by Nate Hooper (Winnipeg, MB), and like Hein has done since arriving to Flin Flon, he buried into the back of the net.

At 7:49 into the 2nd, Ethan Daniels (Fairbanks, AK) had one of the prettier goals you will ever see in the playoffs, taking a pass off the rush from the Bomber defense, Daniels moved in alone behind the Hawks defense, and not only deked out Hawks goalie Hobbs, but the majority of the Whitney Forum faithful as well. Calvon Boots (Fairbanks, AK), was credited with the assist.

Nipawin’s Brandan Arnold would cut the lead in half with his 4th of the series with a perfect tic-tac-toe on the power-play. McDougall and Casavant would have the assists. Time was 9:56 into the second frame.

Chrystopher Collin (Bois De Fillion, PQ), put the Bombers up 3-1, 13:14 into the 3rd on a shorthanded goal, Ben Lanfermann (Paradise Hills, SK), and Caleb Moretz (Fairbanks, AK), had the assists.

A late Bomber penalty gave the Hawks some life, and The Hawks Josh McDougall was able to bury his second of the series. Baetsen had the assist.

With under a minute to play, and with the Hawks goalie Hobbs on the bench, net-minder Brenden Newton (Medicine Hat, AB), nearly stood on his head. He finished the night stopping 37 of the 39 shots fired his way.

In the last 10 seconds of the 3rd, Bomber forward Ethan Daniels laid out to block a Josh McDougall point shot, without a doubt preventing what would have been Nipawin’s tying goal. The Bomber rookie had one of his strongest games.

Tomorrow night’s game goes at 7:30 MB time. The Bomber office will be open from 12-3, you can stop in or call 2046874404.

Let’s see a strong crowd out tomorrow night, and guarantee us a chance to play another home game Saturday night! Your support fuels this team! Let's get up and show our Bomber Pride!
