Hawks take Game One 5-1 over Flin Flon

The Nipawin Hawks opened the series with a convincing 5-1 win over the visiting Flin Flon Bombers at the Centennial Arena in Nipawin. 

Brandan Arnold led the way for the Hawks with 1 goal and 3 assists. Kenzie Arnold, Mikesch, Adams, and Baesten also had goals for the Hawks. 

Nate Hooper (Winnipeg, MB), score for Flin Flon, with Brandson Hein (Winnipeg, MB), and Ben Lanfermann (Paradise Hills, SK) had the assists for Flin Flon. 

Head coach and GM Mike Reagan had this to say after the loss; 

“I thought we played a pretty good game, we just didn’t capitalize on our chances” 

He added “we need to be better, and we know we are going to be better. It's a 7 game series, we have to win one game in this building, and hopefully thats tomorrow.” 

“we lost game 1 against Notre Dame, we lost game 1 against these guys last year, and look how it worked out.” Reagan added. 

Game 2 goes timorow from the Centennial Arena at 7:30pm SK time. 

ICE CHIP:

Flin Flon outshot the Hawks 32-31, and both teams went 1/6 on the PP. Declan Hobbs earned the win for the Hawks, and Colten Lancasater had 12/13 saves in relief of Brenden Newton who made 14/18 saves before being replaced with Lancasater.
