Game Day Preview: Survivor Series Game 2

With game 2 in the SJHL's Survivor Series going tonight in Wilcox, the Bombers will need a strong effort to draw even and keep playing. Here's a look at the numbers heading into the critical game 2 tonight.

“Just expected more out of our guys starting at home, and we know we are a better team than that” said Bombers Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan following Sunday’s game in Flin Flon.

He went on to say “We need to do the little things right, I think we need to be more responsible with the puck, limit our turnovers, and get pucks behind their D."

Reagan added “I expect a much better outcome tonight.”

Shots on goal in game one were 44-30 for Notre Dame. Expect both coaches would like to see a better job at limiting chances.

Each team went ¼ on the power play.

Jack Ryan- Notre Dame’s goalie Jack Ryan stopped 26/30 in game one, and in 29 regular season games he went 14-13-0-0-1 with a 3.14 GAA, and a .882 sv%.

Brenden Newton (Medicine Hat, AB), the Flin Flon net-minder stopped 38/43, and in 37 regular season games went 17-13-0-2-5 with a 2.98 GAA and a .910 sv%.

Who's hot?

Flin Flon Bombers

Chrystopher Collin- Collin (Bois De Fillion, PQ), is no stranger to being on these lists. With 2 goals in game 1, Flin Flon will look to Collin to fill the net. His 52 points in 50 games as an 18 year has been drawing attention all year.

Brandson Hein- Hein (Winnipeg, MB), has seen a significant role change since returning from the WHL’s Everett Silvertips, in 88 games with Everett, he had 14 points in a defensive role. With the Bombers, the 19 year old already has 21 points in just 20 games.

Nate Hooper- Hooper (Winnipeg, MB), Centers the line of the aforementioned, and has quietly led the Maroon and White in points this season. His 57 points in 59 games puts him just below a ppg, but heading into tonight match-up, he has 6 points in the last 3 games.

Notre Dame Hounds

Chaz Smedsrud - With a 6 point night (3g, 3 a) in game one, the Bombers will need to find a way to keep Smedsrud in check. He has 61 points in 58 regular season games, so he can be dangerous.

Chance Longjohn-The 20 year old Hound Captain had a 3 point night out in Flin Flon, added to a 69 point campaign in 57 games this season.

Jack Flaman- the 20 year old former Vancouver Giant had a similar role to Flin Flon’s Hein in WHL. He has 30 points in 29 total games since heading over to the Hounds.

Quick Hits

Ethan Daniels (Fairbanks, AK), sits with 34 points in 57 games as a rookie. Does the little things right, had 2 points in game one.

Ben Lanfermann (Paradise Hills, SK), Captain, 20 year old, and shot block leader in game 1. Expect to see Lanfermann firing on all cylinders, he does not look ready to be done playing yet.

Tyler Nyman (Circle Pines, MN), 20 year old Nyman has battled through some injuries this season, but has been to the league finals last year. He knows what it takes in these games.
