Road Woes

By Flin Flon Bombers, 12/06/17, 6:30AM CST

Two goals in the first and two goals in the second period was more than enough for the Nipawin Hawks to take the second game of a home and home series against the Flin Flon Bombers 5-1.

The Flin Flon Bombers and Nipawin Hawks took to the ice last night at the Centennial Arena in Nipawin at the back half of a home and home series.

The teams were fresh off a 4-3 overtime Bombers win at the Whitney Forum on Saturday night, but last night’s affair wasn’t close as the Hawks fired 34 shots to Flin Flon’s 24, and outscored their opponents 5-1 in the process.

With the loss, the Bombers road woes continued.  At home they have a 8-4-1-2 record compared to 1-9-0-1 away from the Forum.

The Hawks (19-5-2-2) scored two goals in the first, another two in the second and finished off with a single goal in the third.

The Bombers (9-13-1-3) finally replied with Saturday night’s OT hero Calvon Boots (Fairbanks, AK) scoring his seventh of the season from Brody Madarash (Martensville, SK) and Dylan Burton (Winnipeg, MB).

New comer Colten Lancaster (Charlie Lake, BC) made his second straight start, making 29 saves in the processes.

The Bombers will return to action this weekend when they host the Humboldt Broncos for a pair of games starting Friday night.

ICE CHIPS:  Flin Flon was 0 for 7 last night on the power play with Nipawin going 0 for 6.  ---  Forward Jordan Funk (Surrey, BC) made his Bomber debut last night after being acquired from the Kindersley Klippers last week.  He wore #19.  ---  Flin Flon slips to 20 points behind the Hawks for second in the Sherwood, and still sit tied for the final playoff spot with the Melville Millionaires with three games in hand.  They are 8 points up on La Ronge and 10 up on Yorkton.
