Bombers, Hawks Renew Rivalries In Semi Finals

By Flin Flon Bombers, 03/27/17, 11:00AM CDT

After eight head to head matches this season, the Flin Fon Bombers and Nipawin Hawks will meet in a best of seven series to see who moves on to the Canalta Cup finals, when the SJHL Semi Finals start on Friday at the Whitney Forum.

But for the first time in recent history, the Bombers will not have the benefit of two back to back home games when Game 2 will be in Nipawin.

“It’s something that we couldn’t agree on, so the SJHL made the ruling according to the league’s constitution,” added Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan about the schedule.  “It’s something that we have to deal with and we’ll be ready.”

The Bombers held a 7-1 season series lead against the Hawks this year, but it’s not something that Reagan says they can rely on.

“You look at last year,” said Reagan.  “Weyburn was 4-0 against us in the regular season and we won that series.  You can’t rely on the past, only go forward.”

The Hawks make the SJHL Semi Finals on the heels of a sweep of the Humboldt Broncos capping off with a 4-3 win Thursday night.
