Reitmeier Named Player of Year, Sinclair Defenseman of Year

By Flin Flon Bombers, 03/03/17, 10:00AM CST

For the second straight season a Bomber has been named POY, Sinclair wins Top Defenseman for back to back year.

The SJHL handed out their league awards this morning and a pair of Flin Flon Bombers have been named recipients.

Greyson Reitmeier – RBC Player Of The Year

Recently announcing his acceptance of a scholarship from Michigan Tech, it’s been a great year for Greyson Reitmeier (Naksup, BC).

Acquired by Flin Flon before the 2015-16 SJHL season from the Melville Millionaires for Brett Kitt, Reitmeier has shown improvement in his three seasons in the SJHL, and that’s been noticed as he is the Co -Winner of the RBC Player of the Year.

After seasons of 16 and 26 points, Reitmeier tied for second in the SJHL in points with 70 this season (25g, 45a).

“We have seen nothing but growth from Greyson since we acquired him two seasons ago,” commented Flin Flon Bombers Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan.

“We knew he had the potential to get a scholarship when he came here, he’s big, skates well, and has a great offensive vision,” added Reagan.  “He’s done nothing but contribute for us.”

Reitmeier is the second straight POY winner for the Bombers as Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) won the award last season.  Reitmeier will join Smith next year at Michigan Tech.

Eric Sinclair IBAS Top Defenseman

For the second straight season, Eric Sinclair (Kenora, ON) has been named the IBAS Top Defenseman.

Sinclair, acquired by the Bombers from the Melville Millionaires in October and Reagan knew he landed the big fish.

“We have been working on this deal for some time now,” said Reagan of the trade in October.  “I think he is the best dman in the league and defiantly fills the void left when we dealt (Curtis) Roach.”

After starting the season with 5 points (2g, 3a) in two games with the Mills, Sinclair has 44 points (14g, 30a) in 41 games with the Bombers this season.

Last season Sinclair had 45 points (13g, 32a) in 58 games with the Melfort Mustangs on his way to the top Defenseman honors.
