The Flin Flon Bombers have five games remaining in the 2016-17 SJHL regular season, four of them at home, and they are in a dog fight for first in the Sherwood Division, and second overall in the SJHL.
The Bombers are currently tied for the top spot and second in the playoff picture with the Nipawin Hawks, but hold the tie breaker because of their 6-1 head to head record, so the two teams are tied after their final five games, Flin Flon will hold down first.
Before that though, the Bombers shift their focus to a pair of home games this weekend starting Friday against the Humboldt Broncos (Game Time: 7:30 PM) and Saturday against rival Melfort Mustangs (Game Time: 7:30 PM)
Friday has the Broncos coming into town sitting fifth overall which would mean who ever sits second in the Sherwood, would open up against the Broncos in the quarter finals.
Along with Free Kids Ticket Night, Friday will also host the pride of Flin Flon when Bobby Clarke and a TSN TV crew, who are in town putting together a special on the NHL Hall of Famer and his hometown.
Saturday night will be the first Flin Flon Minor Hockey Night when the Bombers will pay tribute to future Bombers and FFMHA.
But the overall focus is the importance of the two games and the four points in the tight playoff race. After the weekend the team has a home and home with the La Ronge Ice Wolves and finish up the season with a Tuesday night battle against Nipawin on March 7.
The Hawks host the Battlefords North Stars on Friday and the Estevan Bruins on Saturday.
