Captain Tyson Empey commits to one of the top Division III programs in the NCAA.

The Flin Flon Bombers are proud to announce that 1995 born Tyson Empey (Swift Current, SK) has committed to the Geneseo Knights Division III men’s hockey program for the 2016-17 season.

Originally committing to Concordia University earlier in the off season, Empey decided to go to the Knight’s program, one of the top Division III programs.  The Knights finished up last season with a 20-5-6 record while playing in the SUNYAC conference.

“We were thrilled when we heard Tyson wanted to join our program,” commented Knights Assistant Coach Kris Heeres.  “He brings all the intangibles coaches look for in a player.”

A four year Bomber, Empey finished up his last season with the club with 29 points (14g, 15a) in 46 games and added another 11 points (5g, 6a) in 16 games while serving as the team’s captain and helping guide the Bombers to their first SJHL final in 23 years.

“Having captained Flin Flon this past season, it is a testament to his character, work ethic and selflessness, we believe Tyson makes us a harder team to play against and is a player who will do a lot of the things that don’t necessarily get the accolades,” added Heeres.

In 184 games with the maroon and white he had 76 points (34g, 46a) and added another 18 points (8g, 10a) in 30 post season games.
