The series between the Flin Flon Bombers and Weyburn Red Wings is shaping up to be a classic with three games in the book already going into the pivotal Game 4.
With Flin Flon leading 2-1 the club was looking to go back to Weyburn for Saturday night with a 3-1 lead, and Game 4 was a wild one.
Like Game 3 on Tuesday, this one had a scoreless first period before Flin Flon would score three in the second.
Joel Kocur (Edson, AB) found the net for the first time in the series on the power play from Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) and Greyson Reitmeier (Nakusp, BC).
Brandon Switzer (Brandon, MB) was then awarded a penalty shot after being slashed on a clear cut breakaway. He would beat Wings goals Jack Burgart firing a shot blocker side for his second of the series.
Weyburn would cut the lead to 2-1 a minute later before Adam Wilson walked out from the corner beating Burgart for his first from Reitmeier helping take a 3-1 lead into the second for the Bombers.
Another power play goal by the Wings to start the second period put the lead back to one and would stay that way for the rest of the game.
Flin Flon looked to have scored a fourth goal of the game midway through the third with Smith in the box for a boarding call, Captain Tyson Empey (Swift Current, SK) broke in looked to have tucked a shot in under the cross bar sending the 1,089 into a frenzy.
Despite the on ice official signaling the goal, an extended meeting between all officials and the goal judge overturned the goal keeping it 3-2.
Goaltender Brendan Newton (Medicine Hat, AB) was solid again last night. The rookie puck stopper made 27 saves and since relieving Zac Robidoux (Winnipeg, MB) in Game 1 is 3-0 with a 1.41 goals against average (1st SJHL) and a save percentage of 0.962 (1st SJHL).
The Bombers will look to finish off the series in Weyburn on Saturday night.
