Broncos and Klippers Invade Flin Flon

By Flin Flon Bombers, 02/05/16, 1:00PM CST

Flin Flon hosts Humboldt tonight, Kindersley tomorrow, before they head out on the road for a pair of games next week.

After a split last weekend, the Flin Flon Bombers return to action for a pair of homes games looking to make a move in the Sherwood Division and SJHL playoff picture.

The Bombers (27-15-0-4) lost to the Weyburn Red Wings last Friday night and won in overtime against Sherwood Division rival La Ronge Ice Wolves on Saturday, putting them in third in the division, and fifth overall, one point behind the Nipawin Hawks with a game in hand.

Tonight they face the Finning Division’s last place club, Humboldt Broncos (13-28-4-1), a team that Flin Flon has a below .500 mark against this year at 1-2 (Game Time: 7:30 PM).

The Broncos are only one point up on the Melville Millionaires for 11th overall, and are winners in 3 of their last 10 games.

The last time they met was back on November 13, a 4-3 loss in Humboldt, which was their second of a four game road trip for the Bombers.  Since that date, the team has gone 21-5, turning their season around and putting them into serious contender category.

Tomorrow the team will host the Kindersley Klippers (23-22-1-2) who are in a playoff push of their own in the Finning Division (Game Time: 7:30 PM – Radio: 102.9 CFAR).

Right now the Klippers are one point up on the Notre Dame Hounds for 7th in the league and home ice in the opening round, and come into town tomorrow after facing the Melfort Mustangs tonight.

This is the first time the Bombers and Klippers have met since the last game before the Christmas break when the Klippers beat the Bombers 4-1, snapping the Bombers seven game winning streak, that night the two clubs combined for 111 penalty minutes, most of them coming late in the third period.

This weekend will mark the end of Flin Flon’s four game home stand and they will hit the road for a game in Yorkton on Tuesday and Melville on Wednesday.
