The Flin Flon Bombers have had a number of all star caliber goaltenders come through the system, and many of them have moved on to NCAA success.
The latest has been 1995 born Simon Hofley (Ottawa, ON) who played for the Bombers from 2013-2015 appearing in 65 games.
Hofley, who is still eligible to play for the Bombers this season, is playing with the Canisius College Golden Griffins men’s hockey team who are members of the Atlantic Hockey conference. The freshman recently won his first game as a Griffin, a 39 save performance in a 4-3 win over Mercyhurst.
On the season Hofley has appreared in seven games posting a 1-3-1 record with a goals against average of 2.97 and a save percentage of 0.914.
Also suiting up in that game was 1993 born Brandon Wildung (Minneota, MN) who played with the Bombers in 2012-13.
This is on the heels of Devin Buffalo’s (Wetaskawin, AB) first start with Dartmouth, a 37 save 1-1 tie against nationally rank Michigan on November 28th. After not making an appearance as a freshman, Buffalo has since started three more games, picking up his first win against Rensselaer the next weekend.
Another former Bomber goalie PJ Musico (Orange, CA) , who played with the team in 2010-11, finished up four years with Penn State, and has appeared in 11 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the ECHL. He recently recorded his first career professional shutout. On the season he’s 6-3-0-1 with a 2.46 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.920.
Carsen Chubak (Prince Albert, SK) played his rookie year of junior with the Bombers in 2007-08. Since then he went on to a successful run with Niagara University, being named runner up for the Hobey Baker award as the nations’ top player.
Upon forgoing his senior year, he signed with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the American Hockey League and is now playing for the Edinburgh Capitals of the EIHL in the UK.
