The Flin Flon Bombers finished off the 2015 portion of their schedule with a four game in five night road trip. The team went 3-1 on the road against teams in the top of the SJHL standings. For those efforts, two players were named weekly award winners.
1996 born Zac Robidoux (Winnipeg, MB) was named the Sasktel SJHL Goaltender of the week for the second time this season. Robidoux, who won the honors back in November, went 3-1 this past week with a 2.52 goals against average and a save percentage of .920. He made 30 saves on Wednesday in a 2-1 win against the La Ronge Ice Wolves and 24 in a 7-3 win against the Kindersley Klippers. He followed that up with a 26 save performance against the SJHL leading Battleford North Stars in a 4-2 win and 35 saves in his only loss of the week, a return match against the Klippers.
On the season he is 14-8-0-3 with a 2.57 goals against average (4th in the SJHL), a save percentage of 0.925 (4th in the SJHL) and 3 shutouts (2nd in the SJHL) while playing the second most minutes in the league.
Along with Robidoux, 1998 born Brandon Lesko (Hafford, SK) was named the SJHL Rookie of the Week for his performance on the road trip.
After going pointless in La Ronge, Lesko chipped in with 2 assists on Thursday in the win against the Klippers. He had the game winner against the Battleford North Stars on Saturday and added another helper in the loss to Kindersley.
It was a homecoming of sorts for the Hafford, SK native in North Battleford. Lesko had 54 points last season for the Battlefords Stars in the SMAAAHL.
On the season he has 15 points (4g, 11a) in 34 games this season.
