Six Straight

By Flin Flon Bombers, 12/18/15, 8:45AM CST

Mitch Foyle and Brandon Switzer each scored twice, helping the Bombers win their sixth staright 7-3 against the Kindersley Klippers.

A seven goal explosion highlighted by a pair of goals by both Brandon Switzer (Brandon, MB) and Mitch Foyle (Fruitvale, BC) helped the Flin Flon Bombers (17-12-0-4) defeat the Kindersley Klippers (17-14-0-1) 7-3 and move into third place in the Sherwood Division and fifth place overall.

Swizter would open the scoring just 42 seconds into the first from Alex Smith (Edmonton, AB) and Joel Kocur (Edson, AB).  Foyle would then make it 2-0 with his seventh of the season just before the midway point of the period, with his first as a Bomber.  Rookies Brandon Lesko (Hafford, SK) and Nick Shumlanski (Tisdale, SK) each picked up the assists.

Former Bomber Austin Calladine would cut the lead to 2-1 before the end of the period and Dexter Bricker would tie things up on the power play early in the second period before Foyle scored his second of the game to retake the lead.

The 3-2 score would stand until early in the third when defenseman Joseph Leonidas (Calgary, AB) fired a shot through a screen from the point to take back a two goal lead on the power play.  Rylee Zimmer (Russell, MB) and Tyson Empey (Swift Current, SK) each picked up a point on Leonidas’s fifth of the season.

Since returning from injury, Empey has points (1g, 4a) in all four games.

Flin Flon would take a three goal lead when Kocur scored his 21st of the season from Switzer on the power play.

Calladine would cut the lead back to two with his second of the game, but goals from Greyson Reitmeier (Nakusp, BC) and Switzer’s second finished things off.

The Bombers will now have today off before finishing up the road swing against the Battlefords North Stars tomorrow night (Game Time: 7:30 PM) and back in Kindersley on Sunday (Game Time: 6:00 PM).
