Flin Flon returns to action tonight after a four game in five night road swing down south that saw the club go 1-1-1-1, gaining four of a possible eight points keeping the pace in the tight Sherwood Division and SJHL playoff race.
The Bombers (24-9-6-6) sit two points back of the Nipawin Hawks for third in the Sherwood and for fourth overall, tied with the Notre Dame Hounds with 60 points, with one game in hand on both clubs. Nipawin lost to the Battlefords North Stars last night in a shootout.
Despite the sputter on the road, a sputter that Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan could have went the other way, the team had a good month overall. According to the SJHL twitter feed this morning, the club had the best record in the Sherwood Division for January, going 7-3-2.
As for the road trip,” We should have had a better outcome,” said Reagan. “We outshot the teams in two of those games, we blew a couple of leads, and we came back from a big lead. We should have had more points, but we have to go forward.”
Tonight the club entertains the North Stars (24-16-6-1) Game Time: 7:30 PM). As stated above, the Stars are fresh off a 3-2 shootout win against the Hawks in Nipawin, and now sit five points behind the Bombers and Hounds for fifth in the SJHL.
