Yorkton Comes To Town

By Flin Flon Bombers, 01/23/15, 1:45PM CST

The Flin Flon Bombers return to action tonight, looking to get back on the winning track.

They didn’t play bad, in fact Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan was very happy with his team’s performance last weekend when they took only one of a possible four points on the road when they faced the Kindersley Klippers.

“We played two really good road games,” said Reagan.  “The outcome doesn’t reflect how we played.”

Flin Flon (21-8-5-5) lost the first one 3-2 and the next 4-3 in a shootout.

Now they turn their attention to the defending RBC Cup champions, the Yorkton Terriers (Game Time: 7:30, Radio – 102.9 FM CFAR (Saturday’s Game Only).

Yorkton (14-22-2-3) is a skeleton of the team that went all the way to be crowned National Champions last year in Vernon, BC.  The team sits dead last in the entire SJHL, three points out of a playoff spot.

They are coming in off a high though, beating the Nipawin Hawks 3-2 in Yorkton on Tuesday night, but overall they only have three wins in their last 10 games and have the worst road record in the SJHL, 3-15-1-2).

Flin Flon on the other hand before their venture into Kindersley, was one of the league’s hottest teams, winning six in a row.

They are currently third in the Sherwood Division,   sixth overall, and are three back of the second place Nipawin Hawks, who sit in fourth, place overall.  Flin Flon has two games in hand.

Flin Flon and Yorkton have only met once this season, that was way back in the beginning of the season when the Terriers received their Championship rings in a ceremony held before the game on October 29th.  Flin Flon won 6-3.
