Six Straight

Brett Boehm picks up four assists and Simon Hofley makes 33 saves as the Bombers win their sixth straight, 6-3 over La Ronge.

Brett Boehm (Martensville, SK) picked up four assists, six different players scored goals for the Bombers and Simon Hofley (Ottawa, ON) stopped 33 shots, as the Flin Flon Bombers won their sixth in a row with a 6-3 decision over the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves on Tuesday night.

The win moves Flin Flon (21-7-5-4) three points up on Nipawin for second in the Sherwood Division and fourth overall in the playoff standings.

The teams would trade goals in the first period, sending it to the second 1-1. 

Michael Knaub (Morden, MB) would open the scoring midway through the opening period, pouncing on a rebound and putting it under the pad of La Ronge starter Kris Joyce.

Parker Evans-Campbell (High River, AB) and the newly acquired Brett Kitt (Brandon, MB) picked up the assists on Knaub’s fifth of the season.  Kitt would finish up with two helpers in his Flin Flon Bomber debut.

The Ice Wolves’ would tie it before the end of the period when Jared Iron scoring his first of two on the night.  He would then score his second just: 48 seconds into the second to help La Ronge take their only lead of the evening. 

The Ice Wolves lead last just short of two minutes before defenseman Tyler Bell (Regina, SK) would sneak down from the point, one timing a Boehm cross ice pass on the power play.  Brandon Switzer (Brandon, MB) picked up the other assist.

Since his return to the Bombers, Boehm has eight points (1g, 7a) in four games. 

Dean Allison would regain the Bomber lead at the 17:47 mark of the second, from line mates Chris Rauckman (Red Deer, AB) and Boehm, and Switzer would make it a two goal lead 1:08 into the third, also from Rauckman and Boehm, on the power play.

Micheal Cardinal would pull the Bombers lead back to one, :41 seconds later, but Rauckman on the power play would regain it six minutes later.  Rauckman’s 26th of the season would be assisted by Boehm and Allison.

Rauckman has goals in four straight games.

Joyce was in the net for all six Bomber goals before being pulled halfway through the third period, making way for former Bomber Austin Rediron.  Flin Flon fired 53 total shots on the Ice Wolves net.

Austin Evans (Whistler, BC) and Tyson Empey (Swift Current, SK) highlighted the evening when both engaged in separate fights that sparked the Whitney Forum faithful.  Evans and La Ronge's Cole Porter dropped the mitts and had a heated battle exchanging punches while it was a different outcome for Empey who connected on the chin of Tristen Elder, not once but twice, dropping him.

Evans-Campbell round out the scoring for the home side, from Knaub and Kitt, at 8;14 of the third.

Flin Flon now hits the road for a pair of games against the SJHL’s leading Kindersley Klippers, starting on Friday.
