Bombers vs Red Wings Preview

By Flin Flon Bombers, 10/24/14, 8:00AM CDT

Flin Flon returns to home ice tonight to take on Weyburn after a successful road trip.

It’s been almost a week since the Flin Flon Bombers last saw game action, when last Saturday night they defeated the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox, SK 2-1, finally putting a blemish on a perfect season thus far for the Hounds.

Now the team will take to the ice for their lone game this weekend, tonight when they take on the Weyburn Red Wings (Game Time: 7:30 pm).

These two teams last faced each other Friday night when the Wings (4-8-1-0) clipped the Bombers (6-2-2-2) 4-3 in a shootout.  They are in the middle of a stretch that sees the club play five straight on the road, including a four game swing of the north where they are 1-1 with a win on Tuesday in Nipawin.

After their four game in five night trip, this is Flin Flon’ lone home game before they take off for another road trip.  Their last trip resulted in five points out of a possible eight.

They sit tied for first in the Sherwood Division with Melfort and still continue to lead the league in goals with an astronomical 50.

Forward Chris Raukman (Red Deer, AB) still leads the league with 19 points (12g, 7a) in 12 games and has only failed to register a point in two games so far.

In total the Bombers have five players sit in the top 15 in the league.

They are also coming off a week which saw two of their players pick up weekly honors with Alex Smtih (Edmonton, AB) being named Player of the Week and defenseman Dustin Perrilat (Saskatoon, SK) picking up Rookie of the Week.

After tonight the team hits the road for two games starting Tuesday in Yorkton to take on the defending RBC Cup champion Terriers, they finish up against Melfort on Thursday.
