Flin Flon vs Humboldt Preview

By Flin Flon Bombers, 10/14/14, 2:30PM CDT

The Bombers start their four game road swing tonight against the Humboldt Broncos.

The Flin Flon Bombers have only won four of their first eight games to start the 2014-15 SJHL season, but have points in all but one of them as they start out on their first extended road trip starting tonight in Humboldt (Game Time 8:30 pm - Radio 102.9 CFAR).

The Bombers are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday night when the Battlefords North Stars scored with less than three minutes in the game to tie it up and eventually won half way through the extra period.

They now hit the road for four games in five nights beginning against the Broncos tonight, the second meeting between these two clubs with Flin Flon taking the first one, 4-3, back on Setpember 27th.  Humboldt (2-5-1-0) sits in last in the Kramer Division, six points behind Kindersley, all this despite having the fewest goals against in the SJHL.

New coach Ryan Smith is finding a hard time getting his club scoring, where 13 different players have found the net, with only five of them having multiple goals.  The offence is lead by veteran forwards Ryan Aubertin and Justin Lund, who lead the team with six points each.

Defensively the club is lead by 1997 born goalie Brock Hamm, who despite the 2-4 record, has a 1.84 goals against average and a save percentage of 0.944.

Flin Flon is looking to get back into the wins column.

They still sit in second in the Sherwood division, three back of the idle Melfort Mustangs, and still lead the league in goals for with a whooping 34, five more on second place with a game in hand.

The Bombers will welcome a new face into the lineup on this road swing when newly re-assigned forward Lance Yaremchuk will see his first action with Flin Flon this season.  Yaremchuk started the season with the WHL’s Prince George Cougers.

After tonight the Bombers will play in Estevan before finishing up in Weyburn on Friday and Notre Dame on Saturday.
