Bomber Prospects Win Telus Cup

Flin Flon sees two prospects in (G) Connor Ingram and (F) Lance Yaremchuk help their PA Mintos win the top prize in Canadian AAA Midget.

A pair of Flin Flon Bomber prosepects turned heads this past week as goalie Connor Ingram and forward Lance Yaremchuk had integral parts of the Prince Albert Mintos capturing their third Telus Cup as the top Midget AAA team in the nation.

Yaremchuk had 31 points (15g, 16a) in 20 games with the Mintos this season and added another 10 (5g, 5a) in 8 playoff games.  As hosts of the Telus Cup Western Regional tournament, Yaremchuk added another two goals in winning the tournament, moving on to the Telus Cup.

On the big stage the Prince Albert native had nine points (6g, 3a) in seven games including four points (3g, 1a) in the semi final against Okanagan and added another two points (1g, 1a)in the finals against the Grenadiers de Chateauguay including an assist on the overtime winner when he fed a pass across ice on a two on one.

Yaremchuk suited up for two games this past season with the Bombers where he registered one goal in his first game against the Melfort Mustangs.

Ingram was named the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League’s top goaltender this past season where he went 16-4-3 with a 1.98 GAA and a .928 save percentage and had a 2.59 GAA and a .911 save percentage in another 7 appearances in the playoffs.

In the Telus Cup Western Regional tournament Ingram was a perfect 3-0 during the tournament finishing with a 2.33 GAA and a .932 save percentage where he faced 34, 35 and 34 shots in his three games, including a 31 save performance in the finals against the Notre Dame Argos.

In the National tournament Ingram went undefeated in his four starts going 3-0-1 with a 1.66 GAA and a .950 save percentage being named co winner of the Top Goaltender award.

He made 30 saves in the 6-3 win over the Okanagan Rockets in the semi finals and specatular 60 saves in the finals against Chateauguay which was decided with 1:24 left in the third overtime, making it the longest final game in Telus Cup history.

Ingram suited up for the Bombers in two games, seeing action in both games including a solid 40 save performance against the Nipawin Hawks.
