Flin Flon Hosts Yorkton

By Flin Flon Bombers, 01/17/14, 1:30PM CST

The Terriers come to town as Flin Flon looks to get back on the winning track.

The Flin Flon Bombers return to action tonight as they host the Yorkton Terriers in one of five games tonight in the SJHL, a game with some serious playoff implications on the line, or possibly one of their remaining 19 remaining games with serious playoff implications.

The Bombers right now find themselves in bottom of the Sherwood Division, with 34 points, but only four points out of first, and two back of second place Melfort and La Ronge, both of which Flin Flon has two games in hand on.

Flin Flon goes into tonight’s game on the heels of a matchup against the Ice Wolves on Saturday night when they fired 42 shots on net and out played the Wolves, but came away on the losing end, 4-1.

Tonight they face off against a Terriers team that fine themselves just .500 in their last 10 games plus losers of their last two games.  This is the first time the Terriers have made the trek to the Whitney Forum this season, and only the second time they have faced the Bombers this season.

The last time these two teams met, Yorkton defeated the Bombers 4-1 at home.   After tonight they face one other two more times with each team hosting one more time.

Of course, it’s no secret that this game has another storyline written in as it’s the first time forward Brett Boehm has been back to Flin Flon since he requested a trade from the team in December, but it’s something that according to Head Coach and General Manager Mike Reagan, the team can’t solely focus in on.

“We know how dangerous Brett can be,” said Reagan.  “But we can’t just keep our focus on him because they have other weapons that can sink a team.”

After tonight Flin Flon hits the road for two games on Tuesday and Wednesday in Nipawin and Melfort, before they host the Battlefords North Stars for a pair of games next weekend.
