Overtime Needed...Again!

By Flin Flon Bombers, 12/19/13, 7:30AM CST

Flin Flon continued their four game road trip with another shootout last night in North Battleford. This time they were unable to win, dropping a 3-2 decision to the Stars.

The Flin Flon Bombers took a 2-0 lead before squandering it to the Battlefords North Stars in the second of their four game road trip, but they did manage a point as the team dropped a tough road game to the Stars 3-2.

It was their second straight shootout and their third in four games.

Paul Soubry opened the scoring with his fourth of the season late in the first period.  Dean Allison and Seamus Maguire both picked up assists.

Flin Flon outshot the Stars in the opening period 16-14 as both starting goalies, Devin Buffalo and Michael Gudmandson, had to be sharp in the opening 20 minutes.

The Bombers would then take the 2-0 lead as defenseman Danys Chartrand beat Gudmandson with his sixth of the season.  Erik Pedersen picked up the lone assist.

Buffalo was finally solved late in the second when Battlefords Jake McMillen scored his ninth of the campaign.

Battlefords would score again before the end of the second, one minute left, to even the score at 2-2.

The score would remain that way until the shootout when Battleford would score on two of their chances to take the win.  Flin Flon’s Austin Calladine was the only Bombers to beat Gudmandson in the shootout.

Flin Flon will now take Thursday off before getting back into action with a pair of games in Kindersley against the Klippers starting on Friday night.
