Hosting Duties

By Flin Flon Bombers, 12/06/13, 9:30AM CST

Flin Flon hosts the Meville Millionaires and Estevan Bruins this weekend in a pair of games this weekend.

For the second time in a week, the Flin Flon Bombers will host the league’s second best team when the Melville Milionaires come to town.  Last Saturday night Melville topped the Bombers 5-3 in what was a heated game ending with multiple fights.

Melville comes to town winners of their last four games including a 6-5 overtime win in La Ronge last night.  In those four games they have scored 23 goals and sit tops in the league with 98 overall for the season.

These two teams have met three times so far this season with Flin Flon only able to win once, that coming in October when the Bombers beat up on the Mills 7-4 in Melville.  Since then Melville has rattled of two straight, last Saturday and a 3-2 win in the middle of November.

Flin Flon will still be without forwards Brett Boehm, who’s serving his final game of a three game suspension, and Cam Blair (injured), and will also be without forward Dean Allison, who receieved a one game suspension after receiving a Second Fight penalty when he engaged in fight on Saturday night while another was going on.  Allison has three points in his last five games.

This is the first of two games at home for Flin Flon this weekend as they are in the middle of five straight at home.  Tomorrow the Estevan Bruins invade the Forum.

Estevan won their first game in six tries and come to town after taking on the Melfort Mustangs tonight.  They sit in third in the Viterra Division, 12 back of second place Estevan.

The teams have split their two meetings this season so far, each winning on the other’s home ice, with Estevan winning the last meeting 2-0 at the end of October.  Flin Flon won earlier in the month 3-1.

Flin Flon finds themselves in third place before the weekend action, one point back of second place La Ronge and four back of first place Nipawin.  They are two up on Melfort.

The Bombers go into the weekend’s action with a four game losing streak and have dipped to two games below .500 for the season.

Flin Flon will have newly acquired 1994 born defenseman Simon Desrosiers who was picked up from the AJHL’s Grand Prairie Storm via the Portage Terriers of the MJHL.  For Saturday night’s game both Boehm and Allison will be back in the lineup.

Saturday night’s game will be broadcast on CFAR 590.
