Bombers Look For Revenge

By Flin Flon Bombers, 11/26/13, 1:45PM CST

Flin Flon entertains the Battlefords North Stars tonight, two days after losing to them on the road.

After splitting a pair of games on the road last weekend, the Flin Flon Bombers return to the Whitney Forum tonight, hosting the same team they lost to, the Battleford North Stars.

After upending the Kindersley Klippers on Friday night by a 3-2 score, the Bombers took on the under achieving Stars and was defeated 2-0 in a close, back and forth match.

Now the Kramer Division’s third place club travels to Flin Flon for a return matchup, the second meeting between the two rivals.

The North Stars come into town with a losing record, two games below the .500 mark and six back of first place Humboldt in the Kramer.  The team is hot right now, losing only one of their last five, in a shootout to the Broncos, and seven of their last ten overall.

The team scores goals, sitting in tied for second in the entire league, but it’s done by committee as they have ten skaters with ten or more points, lead by Blake Young (9g, 7a) and Luke McColgan (7g, 9A) who have 16 points each.

The problem so far is that they have allowed the league’s second most goals against with 81.  They have had four different goalies tend the pipes, with the newly acquired Michael Gudmandson in the net for the Star win against the Bombers on Saturday night.

Flin Flon returns to the Forum in sole possession of second place in the Sherwood Division, four points back of first place Nipawin and two up on La Ronge.

The team needs scoring, and with the omission of captain Cam Blair, and some of the player’s struggles, that might come in the form of newly acquired Peter Poulin-Roy from the NOJHL.  But he’s not here until Thursday, and the team has two games in two nights before then.
